Further Information: ‘With over 230 years of experience Kent combs and brushes are still made in England. Kent’s handmade combs are saw cut then hand polished and buffed to create soft rounded teeth that will not damage your hair or scalp’.

Ref number on cards 124W. Made in Great Britain; 2 x loose small flat metal curlers; 11 x metal, 48mm long, hairgrips on part of a card, bought from Superdrug.

Spring hinged action, 200mm overall length; 1 x mini metal curling tongs ‘Rola and pat and reg don app for’ stamped on single spring-hinged mechanism, 135mm long; 1 x single barreled ‘vintage hair tong roller grip curler’ with removable end, ‘Patent applied for, Made in England’ and ‘Use only genuine Kirby grips’ stamped on barrel, 165mm long.

Description: Pack containing 37 kirby grips, each 50mm long. Pack is 39 x 50 x 12mm. made of cardboard with see through plastic window on the front. Wording on the front ‘EVE Handipak Hair Grips 6d.’ and features a retro design with a woman’s portrait. Wording on the back ‘Ask for Goodman’s HANDIPAKS The original hairgrip window pack Grips always tidy. Made in England by Goodman’

Further Information: The name ‘Kirby grip’ comes from the Emglish manufacturers Kirby, Beard and Co Ltd of Birmingham. This company produced hairpins similar to the later invented bobby pin, and their trademarked pin, the “Kirby grip” became a popular term for this type of hair grip

Description: 20 brown metal ‘cumfy tipped Kirby grips’, 60mm long on a red, grey and white cardboard card (80 x 115mm). Made by Newey Goodman Ltd. Birmingham 28, England. Sold with a sticker ‘Woolworths decimal’ but price indecipherable.

Further Information: Newey Goodman Ltd had two types of business, one was the Haircare based on the Hairgrips and the other was Haberdashery based on dress pins, hooks and eyes etc.

Further Information: An advert from 1957 states that the moto fan blades are made of cellulose acetate because of its exceptional toughness. Graces guide has whole history of the General Electric Company of which the domestic market was a small division.
